Less may indeed be more, to the novice art collector. The annual Art Collector Starter Kit exhibit lets budding art enthusiasts get their paws on small, affordable works from top contemporary artists. The show opens Saturday, November 14 with a live streaming event on Instagram and runs through January 9 at Corey Helford Gallery in LA.
Launched in 2013, the show immediately garnered enthusiastic crowds eager for an alternative to expensive, large-scale art. This year marks the seventh installment of ACSK. Over 75 contemporary artists contributed works measuring 12” x 12” at a price newbie collectors will appreciate.
This year’s contributors include Brandi Milne, Dewi Plass, Erika Sanada, Korin Faught, ONCH, Arturo Garcia de las Heras, and Paris Hilton.
Yes, that Paris Hilton. As the saying goes, come for the affordable artwork. Stay for the enigmatic socialite. On her characteristically excessive contribution to the show, “Holographic Barbie Dreamworld,” Hilton shares:
"This image is from my new Holographic LuMee Case collection, in front of my matching Holographic BMW SlivMobile. It’s a fantasy world of all my favorite things, puppies, kittens, diamonds, tiaras, roses, and of course my icon – Barbie.”
The virtual opening features a visual tour of the show and special appearances by the artists, who will share insight into their new works and field questions from fans. Afterward, fans can see the show on the gallery’s website or Facebook page.
