Ezerd Land Invites Viewers on a Creative Journey to Parts Unknown

Artist Of The Day 1 min read

Ezerd Land is obsessed with robots, spaceships, and all things otherworldly. Machines and the mind are a source of inspiration and exploration. Through amorphous color fields and bold images, the Bronx-based printmaker and mixed-media artist “embraces the oneness of everything that exists in the multiverse.”

Rendered in bright CMYK colors, Ezerd’s eclectic works harbor an appealing sense of play. Her futuristic approach stems from a desire to represent the mysteries of space, “whether in your head or outside your window,” and show the colors flowing as they might appear in a nebula—from the explosion of a dying star or the energy of new stars beginning to form. Inspired by robots, rockets, and machines, Ezerd fills her work with characters she calls "beingships."

My “beingships” are my most complex works of art,” she notes. “The creations that make their way onto the canvas are me giving over completely and putting my trust into the line that appears.”

Exuding positive energy and focusing on “uplifting and inspirational moments,” Ezerd’s work encourages curiosity and levity, even in the darkest of times. Despite having faced the usual share of art-world rejections, Ezerd emphasizes connectedness, hoping to ease the suffering of others. Weaving sci-fi, psychology, and New Age philosophy into the age-old practices of printmaking and drawing, Ezerd invites viewers on a creative journey that will take them to parts unknown.
